Graphics Card – If you have a DisplayPort option on your computer, then it is likely that the graphics card is able to handle it. It may just be as easy to switch to HDMI if you don’t need the better option. Unless you are doing some serious gaming or high-quality graphics or video, you are not going to notice a difference between HDMI and DisplayPort. If you are only connecting a single monitor or perhaps just a secondary monitor, HDMI may provide all that you need. Try HDMI – One of the primary reasons why people use DisplayPort cables is because they are connecting multiple monitors. You should also never see any exposed wires and you should always replace the cable rather than trying to repair it. If you see any problems with cracks, cuts, or any other issue, replace the cable. Remove the cable and look it over carefully. You may even get a partial signal, perhaps enough to get video but it may not send both video and sound. I wanted to make full use of the 144Hz functionality on the monitors, and to do so I would have to use either DisplayPort or DVI-D. On the left monitor I could see “DisplayPort- No Signal”, and on the right was my usual desktop.
I made sure all the cables were tight, unplugged them and replugged them- sure enough I even turned it off and on again- but to no avail. They plug directly into an Nvidia GTX 1080.

My PC set-up consists of two 144Hz monitors connected via DisplayPort cables. A bit of background - why use DisplayPort anyway? It was fine the day before, and it hadn’t been touched that day, so what gives? Let me back up a little… (unless you’re too eager and just want to see the solution).
